Samir Saran is Senior Fellow and Vice President at the Observer Research Foundation. He is the chair of Cyfy 2014, an annual ORF platform that is India’s premiere international event on cyber security and cyber governance, bringing together government, industry, academia and civil society. He is also the editor of the CyFy journal. Samir is an International Fellow of the International Cyber Policy Centre at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute.
He frequently speaks about cyber security and governance at leading institutions such as the Naval War College, Goa, India and the National Defence University, Washington D.C.
Apart from his academic publications, Samir is a prolific writer and authors frequent columns in newspapers such as the Global Times, Times of India, The Hindu, Mail Today and the Indian Express on issues, such as climate change, non-traditional security, radicalism, BRICS, and development policy apart from cyber security governance His latest published work includes, “Attitudes to Water in South Asia,” a joint ORF-Chatham House Report; “A Long Term Vision for BRICS,” a comprehensive vision document submitted to the BRICS Think Tanks Council; "The ITU and Unbundling Internet Governance: An Indian Perspective" for the Council on Foreign Relations; and “Privacy, Property and Sovereignty in the Cyber Age.” His upcoming publications include a joint research project between ORF and the Heritage Foundation, “Indo-US Cooperation on Internet Governance and Cyber Security.”
