Ronald J. Rapp
Director, Industry and Marine Liaison - Undersea Cable Maintenance TE SubCom and ICPC Executive Committee Member

Dr. Rapp is Director of Industry and Marine Liaison at TE SubCom in Eatontown, NJ (USA) where he manages a group of specialists focused on risk identification and mitigation of undersea cable routes and the liaison with the marine community and other seabed users to promote cable protection and awareness. He is also an Executive Committee member of the International Cable Protection Committee (ICPC) and chairs the Business Plan Working Group. He has directed Desk Top Study, Route Survey and Engineering, Permitting, and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) groups. TE SubCom performs the engineering, manufacturing, installation, and maintenance of undersea cable systems around the world.  Ron has worked in the marine field for over 35 years with a number of companies including AT&T Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies where he developed cabled sensor systems, and Chevron. He holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University and a Ph.D. in Ocean Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he conducted research on deep water wave breaking.
